The Christkindl Angel is depicted as a fairy-like being with blonde hair and angelic wings, dressed in gold and white, who brings gifts to children. Traditionally, the children are ushered out of the room on December 24 and the angel arrives to decorate the tree and leave presents. Arriving and departing quickly, the children never see her.
In some traditions, the departure of the Christkindl Angel is announced by the ringing of a small bell. After the parents give word that gifts have been left and the angel has departed, the family enters the living room, where the Christmas tree has been decorated, and gifts can be opened.
